オーストラリア人のネイティブ講師による指導の下、実践的なエクササイズやトレーニングを通じて「海外医療の現場でも通用する英語力」の体得を目指す『G’day Mate』。

 

「第7期」においても、ジャスミン・ミルマン先生が引き続き講師を務められ、初回となったセッションでは、正式な顔合わせと肩慣らしを兼ねての「自己紹介」が行われることなりました。

 

 

 

 

初のセッションということもあり、やや固い表情を浮かべる研修生が多い中での開幕となったものの、そこは流石のジャスミン先生。

 

 

朗らかで人好きのするジャスミン先生によるデモンストレーションを終える頃には、早くもずいぶんと肩の力が抜けている姿が見て取れました。

 

あるいは、英語が堪能な研修生の数が、今期は例年より比較的に多かったことも、リラックスした雰囲気が速やかに醸成される一因となったようにも思われます。

 

 

 

 

また、それぞれの自己紹介後に設けられたフリートークでも活発に質問が飛び交い、互いに気になった部分を深堀りし合いながら交流が深められることに。

 

自己紹介の中で「とある日本語の方言」を理解できなかったジャスミン先生に対して、互いに自然と連携してそのニュアンスを説明している姿などは、とても印象的でした。

 

 

 

なお、セッションの終盤では、今後のレッスンで取り扱ってほしいテーマや、研修生方が個人的に関心を寄せるトピックなどについて、ジャスミン先生から研修生に対して意見が求められる一幕も。

 

幸いにも「訪問診療」や「性差に基づく医療」など、興味深い意見やアイデアが事前に共有されたことで、これからのレッスンが「第7期生」にとってより充実したものとなりそうです。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Happily enough, we now could report the success of holding the first session of an RGPJ regular webinar in this period, too: the G’day Mate.

 

Ms. Jasmine Millman, an native Australian researcher who have a specialty in nutrition, had thankfully accepted a lectureship again for us.

 

 

 

As that was the very first session for them, the registrars conducted self-introduction each other as not only greeting but also warm-up for the future sessions.

 

 

As is often the case with the registrars in the first session, everyone seemed nervous and rock-faced to a greater or lesser at the beginning.

 

Just as one would expect from Ms. Millman, however, her cheeriness and endearing attitude had easily got rid of tension from them by the end of the demonstration by her.

 

 

 

 

In addition, it seemed that the fact the number of registrars who are fluent in English is relatively larger than usual might also affect a smooth creation of welcoming atmosphere.

 

Also, at the end of the session, Ms. Millman asked the registrars about the topics that they had been interested in and they would like to discuss about it in the future lessons. 

 

 

As a result, some interesting ideas, such as home visit care or gender specific medicine, were shared with Ms. Millman and it must be a huge help in improving the quality of the upcoming sessions.
