今回は「ローマの休日 （Roman Holiday）」ならぬ「徳之島の休日（Shiman Holiday）」をお届けします。

当直明けからの平日休み。今週は自衛隊機搬送などもあり、なかなかエキサイティングな週でしたがようやくゆっくりできる日がきました！

この日はとってもいい天気！春というより初夏の空気です。当直疲れを振り切って、病院のある亀津から車で約20分、伊仙町にある「ほーらい館」というところへ行ってきました。ちなみに「ほーらい」は奄美の言葉で「うれしい」という意味なのだそう。

「ほーらい館」の中にはジムやスタジオ、プールがあり、料金を払えばどなたでも使用できます。

今回はプール利用。25mプールと水中歩行用のプールがあり、1時間ほど利用して帰ってきました。貸切状態でした（笑）。午前中が空いているようです。運動するのが久しぶりすぎて息切れしまくってほとんど休憩しながらの利用でしたが（汗）。プールの後はお風呂も利用できます（ただしシャンプー類は持参が必要です）。ジムは健康なおじいさま、おばあさま方で非常に賑わっておりました。

「ほーらい館」の隣には地元の農産物を揃える「百菜」というお店があり、お惣菜をうっていたり食堂も併設なので、ほーらい館の帰りに寄る方もいるようでした。今はじゃがいも（春一番）とたんかん、そしてアオサ（海藻）が旬です。アオサは病院の看護師さんが天ぷらにしてくれたのですが、これがまたおいしかった！

運動の後は海の見えるカフェでごはん（残念ですが4月末で閉店なのだそうです）。

 

帰りに自社養豚場をもつ病院のスタッフもオススメの豚肉専門肉屋「宮本商店」で今夜の買い出し。島豚がスーパーで買うより安いです！

運動もしてお腹も満ちたんで、今から昼寝します（笑）

Hi! This is Natsuko from Tokunoshima.

I’m done my nighttime shift and it’s a day off today! It was exciting that I got on to the Self-Force Defence’s helicopter to transfer the patient to Okinawa this week, I’ll write about it next time.

Today I would like to introduce some nice spots to spend free time in Tokunoshima.

First, I’ll show you “Horai-kan”. It is an exercise institution in Tokunoshima. “Horai” means “pleased” in Tokunoshima’s dialect and “kan” means “building” in Japanese. It has a small gym, a studio, a pool so you can either swim or walk in the water, as well as baths. All of them are available if you pay the fee. There were no one in the pool, so it felt like in a luxury private pool.The gym was rather crowded with healthy elderly people!

Next to “Horai-kan”, there is a shop which sells agricultural products, named “Hyakusai” which means “many kinds of vegetables” in Japanese. It has a small deli and café, so you can have lunch after exercise. Potatoes, oranges and seaweed which is named “Aosa” and usually cooked into yummy tempura are very fresh in this season.

When the weather is nice and sunny like today, you can enjoy beautiful ocean view, of course.

I found another nice shop today. It is a butcher “Miyamoto-shoten” close to Miyagami-Hospital. This shop has their own pig farm so the pork is local. The pork is not only fresh but also cheaper than in a supermarket. I love this shop!

So this was how I spent my first day off.

I’m full and got regreshed, now I’ll be back to home and take a nap…zzz
