This time, I participated in the training session on emergency medical care at my alma mater, Juntendo University in Tokyo.

Actually, a total of 13 junior fellows, including a graduate of the university who now works at Health, Labour and Welfare Ministry and 12 members of the “J-MEG(Juntendo Medical Education Group)”, partook in the session.

In the session, Dr. Takahashi, who had been working as a emergency physician at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia and now aim to be a GP, played a role as a supervisory doctor.

“I would like to learn about know-how to save people who fall sick in the airplane”.

Many of the participants answered, when I asked them about what they would liked to learn in the session. So, Dr. Takahashi gave an “Aussie-styled” simulation training to them.

Eventually, we discussed for more than 2 hours about many topics, such as how to examine the patients and rule the passengers, or how should we behave in order to convince them that “I am a doctor”.

I would like to hold another training session with them again in the near future. Next time, let’s learn about the know-how on “saving people who fall sick in the fields”! Haha.
