東京から招聘した遠隔医療の教授から指導を受ける宮上病院の面々

 

厚生労働省研究班の推進する「多施設研究」にも参加する徳之島宮上病院の宮上院長は、非常に勉強熱心な方でもあります。

その熱意は、例えば遠隔診療ひとつを取ってみても、遠隔医療を研究している教授を東京から招聘し、病院の往診チームの教育と指導を行うほど。

 

その取り組みや姿勢については、現在、徳之島に来訪しているオーストラリアの “へき地専門医” であるサムも、手放しに褒め称えていました。

 

 

この写真は、スマートフォンのビデオ通話機能を利用して、実際に宮上院長が遠隔診療を行っている際の様子を収めたものです。

 

「おぼらだれん。神様、かみさま。宮上院長に会いたいな」

 

遠隔診療の最中、診察を受けていた患者の女性が、小さな画面の中に映る宮上院長に対して嬉しそうに語りかけます。

 

「テレビの向こうの宮上院長とお茶を飲むわけにはいかんね、あ、できるね。あり乾杯！ おぼらだれん、おぼらだれん」

 

“おぼらだれん” は、徳之島の方言で「ありがとう」を意味する優しい言葉。

女性の口からふと、こぼれ落ちたこの言葉の中に、宮上院長への信頼と親愛の念がはっきりと透けて見えます。

 

 

離島医療において、もはや欠かすことはできない「どこでもドア（遠隔医療）」と「タケコプター（ドクターヘリ）」。

 

すぐ隣の奄美大島には、既にドクターヘリが導入されている。

残すは、遠隔医療のみだ。

 

 

 

Today, I also have participated in the medical assistance in Tokunoshima island.

I always see real situations of family medicine and rural medicine in the remote island with my own eyes here.

 

By the way, the hospital director of Miyagami Hospital in Tokunoshima island is a really dedicated and eager to learn.

He has always striven to take in something good for the island’s healthcare and their patients.

 

For example, he invited a professor of Telehealth from Tokyo in order to enhance quality and skills of the hospital’s medical outreach service (home visit) team.

Even by just taking this story as an example, his ardor and dedication for medical care seems definitely genuine for me.

Sam Jones, who has been a specialist of rural medicine in Australia and is now staying at the island, also highly appreciated his efforts and attitude.

 

Well, the second photo captured a scene in the Telehealth conducted by smartphone and video calling with Dr. Miyagami.

While the elderly female patient having a checkup, she cheerfully talked to him who was in the small display.

 

From her words, tone of voice and facial expression, I could feel and read her strong reliance and affection for him.

 

Now, the existence of Telehealth and emergency medical helicopter have become essential for the medicine in remote islands.

And, the latter has already been introduced at Amami Oshima island, which is much bigger than and located right by Tokunoshima island.

 

So, all that’s left is to familiarize and enhance the procedures of Telehealth in the islands!
